Don't let your coupon clipping go to waste!
You spend all that time cutting your coupons and organizing them, but ultimately, there will be a few (or a lot) that you end up not using, and they expire. What do you do then? You donate them!
There are opportunities to donate your expired coupons to military bases. Based on an article I read at TheKrazyCouponLady.com, military bases overseas can accept expired coupons for the families that live on the base. The families can use the expired coupons up to 6 months passed the expiration date.
What you should do is keep a running collection of expired coupons in a Ziploc bag. Each month, organize your coupons by food and non-food categories. Then you send them on to the families that could really benefit from the coupons!

Good deals! And a mistake.
As soon as I cut my coupons, I was ready to go get some good deals! Which may have be the reason I made a boo-boo on my purchase, more on that below. I think I still came out ahead!
Softsoap: Buy one, get one free; used $1/1 Walgreens and $1/1 manufacturer: 2 for $2.49
2 Papermate Pencils: $0.39 each: $0.78
Crayola Crayons: $1; received $1 Register Reward: Free!
2 Kotex: 2 for $5; used $2/2: $3 for 2
Huggies Wipes*: 2 $2/1: $1.99!
3 Lysol Wipes*: 2 for $5; buy 3 get 1 free with rebate: $5 for 2
Snickers Miniatures: 2 for $5; used $1/1; received $1 Register Reward: $3 for 2
* Huggies: This is where it pays to be friendly with the cashiers! I had a $2 Walgreens coupon and a $0.50 manufacturer coupon. The cashier took the $2 coupon and said that she had a better coupon than the $0.50 coupon. She had an additional $2 coupon! Woo hoo! So the Huggies wipes that were $5.99 came down to $1.99!
* Lysol: I've printed my rebate and will send it in! (My mistake: In my haste I forgot the Lysol wipes coupon from today's insert at home! Gah! I will be putting that to good use soon!)

Trip to Target
I'm still clipping and sorting my coupons from Sunday! I went to Target today to see what kind of big deals I could get (and use up some coupons). I think I did pretty well! Of these items, 6 of them were free and many were $0.50 or less!
3 Tide single load packets: $0.97 each, used 3 $1 coupons, making these free!
2 BIC pens: $1 each, used $1 wyb 2, making 1 pack free!
Degree: $0.97, used $1 coupon, making it free!
Olay bar soap: $0.97 and Satin Care: $1.97, used buy 1 Olay product, get Satin Care product free, making the total for both $0.97.
Revlon nail polish: $3.74 and nail clipper: $2.24, used $1 off beauty tool and $3 off Target coupon. This makes the total for both $2! Even better, this purchase produced another $3 Catalina!
3 Oral-B floss: $0.97 each, used 3 $0.75 coupons, making them $0.22 each!
Johnson & Johnson First Aid To Go kits: $0.97 each, used $1.50 wyb 2, making the total $0.22 each!
Band-Aid: $1.87 with $0.50 off, total $1.37.

Walgreens Transaction #1
Yay for the first deal on the blog!
I ran to Walgreens this morning, and I was ready to go get my deals! I did some research for my deals this week, and while my plan didn't go as, well, planned, I did manage to save some big bucks!
Here's what I got:
5 Penway 2-pocket folders with prongs
1 Cottonelle 12-roll pack
4 Head & Shoulders shampoos
1 8-pack Crayola markers
and 1 6-count pack of Goody hairclips
The folders were $0.11 each! I used these as filler items since I was using coupons, but I will be donating 4 to school supply collections.
The Cottonelle toilet tissue was $5, but I used a $0.75 off 1 manufacturer coupon and a $1 off one Walgreens coupon, which brought my total to $3.25.
The big deal of the trip was the Head & Shoulders shampoo! Currently, you buy 2 for $8 and receive a $2 Register Reward. I had 2 buy one, get one free coupons! I bought 2, got 2 free and received a $2 RR. Including the RR, my total was 4 for $6, or $1.25 each!
Both the markers and the hair clips were $2, and I received a $2 RR for each of them, bringing their total to free after the RR!
My plan is to use the RRs to buy some more items on my list. More deals to come soon!
